T H E G R E E N B E L T T R A I L :
This picturesque eight-mile paved trail offers a safe method of travel between the neighborhoods, schools, businesses and retail areas in Maryville and Alcoa. The trail is dotted with benches and historical markers and follows a route around frequent rock outcroppings and across wooden footbridges over Pistol Creek. This trail often winds beside the river and is a great place to walk, jog and ride bikes.

This annual festival celebrates mountain culture, including bluegrass music, Appalachian arts and crafts demonstrations an antique tractor and engine show, storytelling, children’s activities, and demonstrations of a variety of traditional skills including basketry, spinning, sorghum molasses, lye soap, beekeeping, and blacksmithing. The activities are free and take place on the grounds of the Townsend Visitors Center.

The mission of the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center is to preserve, protect and promote the unique history and rich culture of the residents and Native Americans who inhabited the East Tennessee mountain communities that were incorporated into the Great Smoky Mountains Nation Park and its surroundings.
